CHROME FLAMES!!!
100%
Hot Wheels series
Boyd's
37 Ford Smoothster!!!!
This is a 1/64 scale casting.
These pics are pretty good, but, I can't stress this enough,
they ABSOLUTELY
do not do this paint justice!!
The
casting was stripped, sanded and polished slightly before any paint
was done.
No Major body mods, but, this thing has a TON of seperate parts!!!
All of which of course were disassembled!!! The hood, body, fenders,
base, and top were ALL painted!! The top was very difficult to do
because there was no place to "grab" it!! So, I used a
reversed strip of tape and adhered the top to that while it was
being painted!!! When done,
the piece had enough paint build up around the edges that it required
very careful exacto knife cuts prior to removal from tape so as
not to pull the paint up with the tape!! Also some excess paint
had to be trimmed away, again, with the exacto!!!
The wheels are stock with this car and feature rubber tires!! Other
features include clear plastic headlights and chrome rings!!!
This was not an easy paint job to say the least and with all the
seperate parts, not too easy on the reassembly either!! But, it
was all worth it in the end!!!

The paint is ALL AIRBRUSHED (as with all my kustoms) PPG
and House Of Color AUTOMOTIVE paint.
PLUS!!! The Main Ingredient for Black Chrome....
Alclad Chrome Lacquer!!!!
It started with a JET BLACK base color, then after it was CLEARED
for a nice smooth surface for the Alclad Chrome lacquer!!! While
the clear was still tacky, I shot a light coat of the Alclad Chrome
on!! After this coat was dry enough to touch, I added a set of Flames!!!
Not stopping there, I also added a SECOND LAYER of flames!!!!
The roof section was primed with Plastic Adhesion Promoter prior
to the main paint and required some sanding and recoat of the base
Black to get the original "textured" grain absolutely
smooth!!!
This is SO INCREDIBLY KOOL that words fail to describe what your
eyes actually see in person!!! The red and blue you see in some
of the pics is a reflection of my curtains and some HW packs from
my walls!!!
Its just THAT shiny!!!!!!!
NO FREAKIN' KIDDING...... I just cant find the words to accurately
describe what this stuff does in person,
but, TRUST ME.....IT IS KILLER!!!

Now, I do have to say that because of the way
the Alclad paint has to be applied to get these effects, there is
no clear over it, but, rather under the chrome paint. Otherwise,
this marvelous Chrome finish would look like a normal High Metallic
silver!!!
I also Detailed the tail lights AND MANY accents were made to the
tan interior with Candy Red!!!!!!
