Hot Wheels
"Double Chroma Flamed"

MERC / Passion!!!!

This is a 1/64 scale casting.

I can't stress this enough, these pics
ABSOLUTELY do not do this KILLER piece justice!!

It is almost impossible to capture the incredible color shifts and sparkle in a still picture....TRUST ME....IT's WAY COOOOL!!!!!

This is a color that is one of a kind and it really looks great....and if you saw this one in Irvine, I think you will agree...if not....well, just wait until you are holding it in your hand!!!!!!!!

As for the rollers....I chose a set of classy Baby Moons and Wide White Walls from a Jada Road Rat and 1/16" brass tubing was used for new shortened axles both in front and back. Quite a lot of material had to be removed from the inner fenders, interior, and base at various places in order to get this led sled as low as it would go and still roll!! The axles were then secured to the base with JB Kwik and meticulously LEVELED so that all four tires touch the surface at the SAME TIME and the is NO rocking!!!!
Plus....it rolls GREAT!!!!!!!

The paint is ALL AIRBRUSHED (as with all my kustoms) PPG and House Of Color AUTOMOTIVE paint, plus, Createx Auto Air for the Flakes.

I started with a super smooth automotive grade primer and this was sanded and reprimed twice!! Then I used Createx Auto Air black base, followed with 1 coat of HOK Khameleon Blue to green, 1 coat of Alclad Prismatic Sapphire that gave it more of a blue and purple shift, with "just a hint" of green at some angles!!!
HOK SG-100 intercoat clear was then applied and after this was dry, the Flames were done with PPG Harlequin Gold to Magenta...which actually seems to disappear into the main colors at some angles and at others, changes from gold to red!!!!
And still not done...I added two coats of Auto Air Hot Rod Sparkle Purple Metal Flake to give this one a little "twinkle"!!!

Finally, DuPont 7600 ChromaClear was shot on in 3 coats...sanding with 1500 grit two times in the process to get the metalflake even with the surface....which makes the finish WAY SMOOTH and VERY durable!!!!

I removed the rear bumper and smoothed the rear deck with a slight "rolled pan" and also made the taillights "concave"...they were detailed with Alclad Chrome and Candy Red to finish it off!!
