STEEL FLAME!!!!
This is a 1/64 scale casting.
These pics are pretty good, but, I can't stress this enough,
they ABSOLUTELY
do not do this paint justice!!
The
casting was stripped, sanded and polished slightly before any body
mods or paint was done.
The most obvious modification would have to be the NEW front bumper
and grill that came off a Jada Toys Silverado PU!! The stock grill
was removed and Marine Epoxy was utilized to form a backing for
the new grill piece and also the epoxy holds the front casting post
in place now because it had to be completely separated from its
original location in order to accommodate the Blower/engine that
was borrowed from a 41 Willys!!! Minor alterations were done to
the interior and base for the shortened and tubed axles of the White
Letter Good Year REAL RIDER wheels and both axles were epoxied in
place, LEVELED and lowered somewhat until
the tires have JUST enough clearance to turn!! They roll very well
and look even better!!!
The paint is ALL AIRBRUSHED (as with all my kustoms) PPG
and House Of Color AUTOMOTIVE paint.
PLUS!!! Alclad Chrome Lacquer!!!!
It started with a BLACK CHERRY Urethane base color with the interior/bed
cover part also being primed with plastic adhesion promoter prior
to the base color for superior bond, then flames were added with
Alclad Chrome!!!! Then, the Candy FADE was done THREE COLORS!!!
Starting with Candy Pagan Gold, to Candy Tangerine, to Candy Brandywine
Red!!!!!!!!! Once this coat was dry, the Alclad Flames were repeated
One MORE time and followed with additional Candy FADE after the
flame pattern!!!!!! The front bumper was masked, primed with adhesion
promoter, basecoated, and painted Candy Gold to match the rest of
the front end as well.
Finally, Clear was shot on in three coats making the finish WAY
SMOOTH!!!! This is SO INCREDIBLY KOOL that words fail to describe
what your eyes actually see in person!!!
NO KIDDING...... The Flames are VERY DEEP, Ghosty, and "glowing"
CANDY and the Black Cherry has just a hint of red in some lights,
but otherwise, is very dark!!!!!!!
I also Detailed the tail lights with Alclad Chrome and added two
dots on each side with Candy Red!!!!!
