"GOT BUD??"
ST---REEEETCH--ED"
DAIRY DELIVERY!!!!
This is a 1/64 scale casting.
These pics are pretty good, but, I can't stress this enough,
they ABSOLUTELY
do not do this Kreation justice!!
TWO
castings were stripped, sanded and polished slightly before any
body mods or paint was done.
This one started out as a Special Order for a gentleman that suddenly
backed out of the deal......HIS LOSS!!! This one turned out KILLER!!
I decided to do it MY WAY after the deal went awry and this is the
result!!!
The two castings were cut and mated up with each other, carefully
aligned, then Marine Epoxy was utilized for the bond!! This bond
is VERY STRONG as I left the material inside very thick and smoothed
out the body...AND I MEAN "SMOOTHED OUT" the body!!!!
ALL the original casting lines were ground away and filled with
Marine Epoxy and automotive grade body filler!! The only exception
to this was the hood and nose!!! The sanding, priming, and more
sanding was VERY VERY EXTENSIVE with this one!!!! Once the smooth
look was achieved, I carefully sanded out concave areas behind the
side windows, smoothly fading them into the bodywork!!! Then came
the fender openings for the New Tandem Axle Muscle Machine meats!!!!!
I left a VERY subtle ridge around the fender openings which goes
nicely with the smoother body style I think!!!!!
The smaller fronts came off a Muscle Machines CarTOONS series Vette!!
The base was completely hand shaped and fitted from 1/8" Plexiglas
sheet into its new surroundings!! I went to great lengths to utilize
the tail light holes in the body for a rear anchor on the new base...pretty
much the same design as the original base, but, very tricky to get
the Plexiglas to fit the tail light holes!!! Two oblong stubs were
VERY VERY carefully CUT in the rear of the Plexiglas and aligned
with the castings tail light holes so as to make the fit!!!! This
in itself was pretty tedious and time consuming, but, works great!!!
Once
this was done and the base then
was secure in the rear, a hole was marked and drilled, threads tapped,
and the front was anchored with a machine screw!!!!!!
The front wheels needed to have the axle length adjusted, so, 1/16"
brass tubing was matched to the base and the existing axles clamped
in. A slot was cut in the base for each axle and they are held in
place with "hold downs" crafted from spare Dub City and
Muscle Machine parts, then once again, small screws hold them in
place!!!! They ALL touch the surface at the same time (after some
extensive adjustments), roll VERY well and look even better!!! However,
the fronts do have a occasional rub on the inner fenders, even after
a lot of material was removed to allow clearance.
The base was then disassembled, cleaned, sanded, primed with Plastic
adhesion promoter, base coated with Black Urethane, color sanded,
clear coated several times and FINALLY, shot with Alclad Chrome!!!!

The paint is ALL AIRBRUSHED (as with all my kustoms) PPG
and House Of Color AUTOMOTIVE paint.
PLUS!!! Alclad Chrome Lacquer!!!!
It started with a BLACK URETHANE base color, then Alclad Chrome
was applied over the entire thing!! 8 COATS of HOK Candy Cherry
RED was then shot on!!!!! It was allowed to cure out for 36 hours,
then the "BUD" decal was applied on the roof!!!! 3 Coats
of Clear was shot on over the decal after it had dried over night!!!
Another overnight cure session for the clear, then it was color
sanded with 1500 grit wet&dry until it was VERY Smooth and the
decal was protected in the clear!!!!
NOW we get to the flames!!!!! The Color Changin' ChromaLusion Flames
to be specific!!! TWO SEPARATE LAYERS AND COLORS of this Amazing
paint were "FLAMED ON!!!!" Red to Blue was the first layer,
and the second was Gold to Magenta!!!!!! A few flame licks were
strategically placed OVER the Bud logo making for a very "Deep"
appearance!!! !!!!!! Finally, once this was dry, 4 more coats of
clear was applied, sanding again between the second and third coats
making the finish EXTREMELY SMOOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is SO INCREDIBLY KOOL that words fail to describe what your
eyes actually see in person!!!
NO KIDDING...... The Flames change colors RADICALLY and are VERY
Ghosty, and seem to actually "MELT" into the DEEP and
"glowing" CANDY!!!!

TOO
FREAKIN'
AAAWESOME!!!!

I also Detailed the headlights, tail lights, park lights, grill,
with Alclad Chrome and added some Candy Red on the tail lights!!!!!
